TIME-MANAGEMENT FOR WORK-AT-HOME MOMS

Are you a working mother? Your stress is understandable- being a work-at-home mom has never been easy. All the family pressure, childcare dilemmas, and management issues are bound to take their toll sooner or later. But you needn’t feel tempted to quit your home-based work and sign up for psychotherapy, when it all seems too much. If you’re a work-at-home mom, frustration is not an option, it will show in you, therefore your husband and children will bear the brunt of it. Instead, you need to manage your time better, and make good use of parenting resources. We give you some suggestions.
Try to delegate responsibilities in the family. Work-at-home jobs are stressful and time-consuming, so you need extra hands to help you with house work. Organize clean-ups before bedtime every night, where every family member helps to put things back in their right place. Remember: “A place for everything and everything in its place” Girls’ clothing in the right cupboard and boys’ clothing in the separate cupboard. Older kids can help fold their laundry, make their beds – this not only helps to save precious time, but also will give your children a sense of independence. Even toddlers can help by picking up their toys. When everything’s done – don’t forget to praise your children. Also, you can ask your husband to help you with setting the table and clearing it. Men are adept at such simple work- and once you show him which plates and glasses and cutlery to use, he is sure to get the hang of it. Don’t criticize or be negative. Avoid the comments like “Oh no! Not like that!” or “You did it wrong again!” Remember to admire him for his efforts and willingness to help.
Mornings are always a difficult time, especially for those work-at-home moms, because they know that once the children are sent off to school and the husband to work – they must sit down with their own business. So make mornings less hectic and rushed by planning ahead- ensure your kids’ school-bags are packed and their clothes ironed the night before. Have a planned menu for breakfast – much valuable time is wasted deciding what to cook. Make a mental note: “Pancakes on Monday, Sandwiches on Tuesday, Waffles on Wednesday, etc…” Make sure all the ingredients are ready. Simplify meal preparations- keep the elaborate menus for the weekends, when you have the time. For the weekdays, when you are tired from work, and need to make dinner, use simple recipes that require little time, and few ingredients. Don’t compromise on nutrition, though, and avoid convenience foods, as these are unhealthy in the long run.
Use time-saving devices like washing machines, microwaves, and vacuum cleaners. They are here to make our life easier. Sometimes, you can ask your children to help out with loading the dishwasher, or wiping the plates dry, or even putting the washing out in the sun. With a little creativity and a good routine, you can go a long way!

Cheese and Bacon Mushroom Stuffers
This is a great recipe for a quick appetizer if you are having a dinner party and you wanted to offer your guests something different. If you don’t like onions you can leave them out and it still tastes great. You can also add crabmeat to this recipe if you are a seafood lover and it really turns out delicious.
Ingredients:
30 fresh mushrooms, with stems removed
1 cup almonds, slivered
1/2 pound of bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
1 (8 ounce) package Cheddar cheese, shredded
6 green onions, chopped fine
2 C mayonnaise
Instructions:
Place the almonds in a large mixing bowl. Add the bacon and cheese. Stir in the green onions. Fold in the mayonnaise and stir to incorporate all the ingredients together. Heat the broiler. Stuff the mushrooms with the mayonnaise mixture. Spray a shallow baking dish with a non stick cooking spray. Place the mushrooms in the baking dish. Broil 10 minutes 4 inches from the heat.
Great Place for the kids to learn to ski!
We took a little weekend trip this weekend with the kids to Pennsylvania and had a great time. While we were there we decided to check out the Blue Mountain Ski Resort because it was close by to where we were staying.
Growing up my family and I took many family ski trips and I have to say it is probably one of my most favorite sports activities to do. But now that I am a Mother I tend to be extra cautious when it comes to the kids and the dangers of putting them on some skis and hoping they don’t fall or run into a tree! But I just kept telling myself that I need to let them live and learn and just trust that they would be ok. And I am glad I did–because boy did they have a great time! The ski school at Blue Mountain was absolutely great–I was very impressed. My kids had never even seen the side of a ski mountain until this weekend and by the end of the day they had learned to stop on their skis and turn–which by the way are the two most important things to know when speeding down a mountain on two little feet.
Basically you just sign them up for the “Explorers Program” drop them off with the instructor and they take care of everything else. They fit them for their ski boots, skis, and a helmet. And the best part about it is that parents can see everything going on but the kids don’t even notice you are there watching. The entire school area is fenced in and parents can watch from upstairs in the warm cozy lodge or outside on the other side of the fence. So this is a great program for complete beginners at a young age because they learn the basics in a safe enjoyable environment. The instructors were mostly young kids themselves around teenage to young adult age and really made it a lot of fun for the kids. Once you are comfortable with the program you can also drop the kids off and go enjoy a few hours of skiing yourself. So if you are looking for a great place to let the kids try out skiing to see if it is something they might like then Blue Mountain is definately my suggestion.

Tasty Mozzarella Burgers Recipe!
These have to be the most delicious burgers I have ever tasted. Very easy to make and not your average burger. The mozzarella cheese is definately the best part!
Broiled Mozzarella Burgers
Ingredients:
1 egg
2 Tbsp ketchup
1/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1 pound lean ground beef
4 slices mozzarella cheese
4 hamburger buns
Instructions:
Break the egg into a large mixing bowl and beat slightly. Add the ketchup and stir to combine. Stir in the oats until completely combined. Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, salt, garlic and onion powder and mix all together until completely incorporated. Place the beef into the mixture and using your hands mix until all the ingredients are incorporated through the beef. Shape the beef mixture into 3/4 inch patties. Turn on the broiler and allow it to heat up. Place the burgers on a broiler pan and place them 4 inches from the heat. Cook 15 minutes or no longer pink and as well done as you like being sure to turn once during cooking time. Remove and place one slice of cheese on top of each burger. Return to the broiler for 45 seconds or until cheese just begins to melt. Place the burgers on the buns and serve with lettuce, tomato, pickle and your favorite condiments.
44 Unusual Ways Moms are Earning Money
I just read a great report for mom’s who are looking for ways to earn money from home part time or even full time. This report is called “44 Unusual Ways Moms are Earning Money in Their Spare Time” written by Carrie Wilkerson “The Barefoot Executive” who has “been there and done that” professionally and personally. She has compiled a great resource for moms looking for ideas to earn extra cash from home and the great part about it is that you can trust what she is recommending which as we all know these days is hard to find on the internet. I personally have wasted lots of money and time on reports that really didn’t give me any thing to go forward with in terms of resources for work at home opportunities–but this report did give me some ideas and she does provide links to helpful resources if any of the ideas perk your interest.
I do have to say some of the things listed were kind of a “no brainer” when it comes to things that you can do as a home based business but the great part about a report like this is it gets your mind going with lots of ideas and at least gets you moving in the right direction when it comes to your goals and aspirations of working from home.
So if you are toying around with the idea of working from home or you are already a stay at home mom and looking for some extra cash on the side–check this report out at the following link http://44waystoearnmoney.com/?e=Bella and don’t forget to sign-up for the affiliate prgram to earn extra cash just by recommending it to your friends.
My Favorite Family Vacation
This is my first post in our family vacation tips section and I thought I would tell you about my most favorite place on earth. About 3 years ago my family and I went to Canada for a trip to visit Quebec City–which in itself is an amazing place to visit–but I don’t know that I would recommend it with small children because it is on the side of a mountain—but we will talk about Quebec City another time. On our way home from Quebec we took a small detour to find a piece of land my husband’s father owned that he had bought some 30 years ago and hadn’t visited since. So we decided to try to find it to let his father know how it looked. It was located on Wolfe Island in the 1000 islands.
The 1000 islands are located on the St. Lawrence river on the border of the United States and Canada. And to me the most amazing place on earth. Don’t get me wrong–the 1000 islands are definately only appealing to a certain type of person. It is very quiet and peaceful and almost makes you feel like you have gone through a time warp to get to somewhere that all of the hustle and bustle of our busy lives is just not allowed to come. For someone who loves the city it may be a bit slow–But for me it is a place of complete peace and tranquility.
When we first visited the islands area we took a fairy tour–which is a must for any first time visitor. Departing from Alexandria Bay you can take a guided tour of the islands and Millionaire Row. This is where I fell in love with this beautiful amazing place. Honestly my husband looked at me when we were on the tour and he said he could just tell–that this place just felt like home. The tour includes 2 amazing castles located on islands and many other islands that consist of just a house in the middle of the river–where the occupants commute by boat wherever they go.
Since our first visit we have returned every summer for a family vacation–and at one point had even bought a piece of paradise on an island on the St Lawrence–(but have since sold it for various reasons) But someday my dream is to buy a little river side cottage for our family to enjoy for generations to come.
Here are just a few of the amazing things you can enjoy with your family in the 1000 islands:
Boating, Fishing, Hunting, Camping, Scuba Diving, Hot Air Balloon Rides, Casino, Site Seeing–including 2 castles to tour, shopping, and relaxing!! And that is just in the summer. If you love winter sports–there are numerous ski resorts not far off, amazing snowmobile trails, ice fishing, and more. But just remember this is Canada and to say it is COLD is an understatement. But in the summer it is perfect–not too hot and not too chilly–but just right! If you do plan a trip make sure you check the schedule for the festivals going on throughout the area. And don’t forget to visit Kingston which is just a quick fairy ride from Wolfe Island and just over the Canadian border–this great city has a European feel to it with great shopping and restaurants. If you are interested in learning more great travel tips about the 1000 islands make a comment and I can post more insider tips for the area–like where is the best place to rent a boat while visiting, what tours are the best, and some really great restaurant recommendations!
